We took La to her first NRL game the other night when the Panthers (black) played the visiting Canberra Raiders (green). It's a nice night out and not too long with 40 min halves (yay!). My style of sport watching...

The local stadium isn't huge so you get good seats no matter what - we like to go down to the try line where you see all the action.
La was as interested in the supporters as she was the game itself learning a few tame chants (very considerate are the drunk local fans!)
They honestly must be black and blue at the end of a game I think.
Cheering on a try!
Ouch!
The slower pace of play does make it easier to fully evaluate the players finer qualities. My style of sport watching...
We decided to mix business with pleasure one Saturday when Jill had a job down in Cronulla so we packed up the kids and had one last beach day before it came in cold.

I hadn't been to Cronulla before, was really lovely, no hint of riots (!) and a lot of beach.
La and Lucho were in like Flynn trying to catch the waves and as much sand as possible in their swimmers.
Lucho would have stayed in all day given half the chance - La turned blue fairly quickly and turned her hand to sand castles instead.
There was no chance of me getting in by the way - I spent my time ensuring I stayed dry by keeping these two between the flags and crossing my fingers each time they got pounded by the waves!
Leaving Sami cursing night-shift, we had a hankering for Indian the other weekend while Lucho's extended family was visiting. I must admit to pilfering these photos from Lucho's Aunty Dean's facebook page as I didn't think to bring my camera (shock! horror!). I tip my plagiarist hat to you Dean....thx!

Lucho and La with their own purpose built plaything - Morgan.
La, myself and Jill. Clean and tidy before the food arrived.
Jasmine and Dean visiting for the weekend.
Newly wed Sara and Revo.
Jill and Morgs. Thanks for the great evening everyone!
Lucho, spurned on by La's recent success, has now mastered his bike! Took only a matter of minutes before he was racing from one end of the street to the other.

Well done Lucho!
La trying out Sami's new harness. I think we'll wait a few more years before letting her jump off the side of a mountain.
We took Kristen to the northern beaches for a look-see and for Sami to try and do some flying. We looked and saw, but no one's feet left the ground other than getting pummeled by the surf. Still a lovely way to farewell summer as guaranteed this self has retired from the water for the winter.

Sami and La deep in construction mode.
Kristen checking out the talent, I mean, surf!
Lesson one - stay between the flags. We are very diligent about the beach rules being avid watchers of Bondi Rescue.
Success on 2 wheels! La has done really well picking up riding her bike, as long as it's flat, straight ground with no bumps or obstacles of course and you help her start (!) Mind, as with everything, it's two steps forward, one step back. She's lost her bravado a bit since. She must have freaked herself out a bit because now after a couple of minutes, she prefers to run about with her helmet on instead. Believe me, I'm not under any illusions that she's gifted....(xxo)

Cousin Kristen came up to keep us company recently so we put on our tourist shoes for a bit and went sailing in the harbour.

Well, Kristen and Sami did - I kept La company at a nearby park while these two took control of a sail boat and attempted the Sydney to Hobart.
Well, not really, but they got to take the reins along with 2 others and the skipper and sail around the harbour for a couple of hours.
I always loved my brief, but exciting sailing experience in school and thought Sami should have the chance to give it a whirl.
Kristen and La breaking out the biscuit making kit...
...a success if success is measured in mess! Kidding - they tasted great and therefore didn't last long either. Thanks for the great xmas pressie A. Kara!
We recently took off La's training wheels on her bike as she was getting very Evel Knievel on her bike and we figured she should give it a try on her own.
Kisses and cuddles inbetween bike stacks.
