Sami is on holidays for a bit so La skipped a few days of school in exchange for a few days of family fun in Bateman's Bay. Only 3 or so hours south of Sydney, we went exploring the south coast of NSW...
Stopping off at a lookout on the way for some lunch...
...and some serious holding-on-tight-to-the-toddler games as well!
Day 2 and it was time to explore Guerilla Beach and the rock pools.
La and I were off having a look about...
...Leyla trying to do her own climbing.
La keeping her Baba on edge as she climbed up and around the head.
We walked the length of the beach to get to the other end to the little "island" of rocks. We were finding our activities rather pram "unfriendly" this trip needing to play pass the parcel with Leyla most of the time.
Mountain Goat La. We meandered our way back to the car through the bush (I can't possibly backtrack - wonder who that reminds me of?!?!) before driving inland to Mogo for lunch and a stop at the Lolly Shop.
During Leyla's afternoon kips, La and Sami would go fishing.
Not terribly successful, but they still had fun.
Day 3 found us going bush walking in the Botanic Gardens. La was the expedition leader - not too hard to get lost here.
A big tree. Being the Botanic Gardens, it was all very botanical in nature. Not that much seemed to rub off on me, but the girls loved it.
There was this fantastic park there where we made ourselves at home and had some lunch.
Of course.
Fishing in the afternoon again. Still no luck.
No holiday is complete (for the parents) without some chilling out in front of the telly.
Day 4, our last day, going to Durras Beach to find ourselves some super friendly kangaroos...
We invited ourselves into their living room, you can't really see from the pic but there were heaps of them just lazing about in the sun.
This is as close as Leyla would get.
Then off to the beach for a swim in the shallows. La was mad keen to get wet, Leyla on the other hand spent most of the time stuck in that spot above, moaning about the sand, the cold, the water, the whatever she could think of really....
Eventually she moved around a touch...
...but was really more content to get dressed and sit on the car and eat a banana.
Had a great time on our little holiday. Everything that you could think of we did - fished, ate fish and chips that someone else caught, played at all the parks, explored as much as we could and in honour of Pa, went to the ice-creamery for some real ice cream. And, it was even a little bit of a holiday for Sami and I too. Just a little bit, even with a toddler.
