The Festival of Birthdays

A friend coined the term nicely calling the holidays The Festival of Birthdays for our clan. So before we dive into the beach and farm holiday fun let's first pay tribute to everyone who had a cake made in their honour while we were down the beach.
Toby turned 7! He got the fastest bike in living history and we spent the rest of the holiday eating his dust.
Laura turned out an oldie but a goodie for his cake.
Little cake groupies waiting to pounce!
Sitting in the shade watching the fun...
...that being the fun of the season's latest innovation - those easy, multi-filling water balloon thingys.
 Leyla being Leyla.
Birthday tea as chosen by the birthday boy - pizza.
Jacqui turned 8 next and we all biked and scooter-ed (mostly) down to the park for cake.
We are lovingly referred to as a rent-a-crowd.
Matt turned 40 this year and so he got something notable - his very own sea kayak that we've all used now more than him ha ha! We tried to tell him that the kids were part of his very special present but he still only took his four home. Sigh.
 Cake. Of course.
My birthday was next. 38 this year and after some lovely cake ideas formally presented by all the kids to the panel of myself and Lou, we chose Toby's based on size (to feed a thousand), applicability to the situation (beach) and thoughtfulness to me (I like fish).
We are always in need to ideas to keep this motley crew occupied and engaged and we were super impressed with how they all researched and presented their cake ideas. Thanks Laura again for such an amazing creation!
Old Pa and Uncle David were next so we all trouped down to the jetty park again for fish and chips (Old Pa's favourite). Will, La and Holly goofing around...
...and Toby...
...and Leyla. We love our cousin-friends!
 The Clan.
 Talking About Really Important Stuff.
Another oldie but goodie, this time made by Mum.
 88. Just magical. So lucky to have Old Pa still around.
Let's not forget Uncle David of course, a great double celebration.

This concludes the birthdays we had down the beach, but don't relax just yet, there'll be more to come once we get back to the farm. The Festival of Birthdays will continue in a later post.
