Tropical Fijian Paradise

So, it's been 20 years since Sami and I first got together so we thought we'd celebrate this occasion by taking a week out for ourselves. Our destination was the Warwick, on the Coral Coast of Fiji, and we were definitely not disappointed!

Exploring the hotel and the grounds on the first day. Naturally, we went during the quietest, wettest (therefore cheapest!) month but lucky for us, the skies cleared on our arrival and we pretty much had a whole week of warm fab weather!
The view from our balcony.
The pool for only adults....
...and the family pool (we steered clear of this one haha)
So much to do - we made sure we tried out all the activities - tennis, squash, games room, gym, water activities...
...and archery.
The hole in the yellow circle was not mine - I tended to favour the white sections or the bushes behind.
Most resorts support their local village, offer tours and encourage folks to contribute to their schools and community. We were happy to take part and visit and meet some of the locals.
Preparing the customary kava ceremony to welcome you to the village.
We joined the tour group to hike to Biausevu Waterfall.
We finished off the village tour with lunch at our guides family home with a meal prepared by his family. It was fresh and delicious and we felt very humbled being invited into a traditional Fijian home.
Taking the local open air buses for a squiz about the place.
We headed into Sigatoka on Saturday morning for a look. It's the nearest large town where the Fijians of the area go to stock up, catch up and sell their wares.
We signed up to see or made sure we went to as many of the performances or local displays that the resort offered - here we are watching a traditional fire walking ceremony.
We saw the local dance group from Korolevu, a Polynesian dance group and an amazing fire display as well. We had an incredible time, the resort was luxurious, the people were so lovely and friendly, their music and songs were beautiful and a daily part of their lives. Such a wonderful place - thanks Fiji for spoiling us!
La and Leyla had their own little holiday with Ma Ma and Pa and we were super grateful that they made the trip up to babysit. Of course, there's nothing better than when Mum and Dad bring home lots of presents from their holiday!
